After sixteen years of fundraising for Barnardo’s children’s charity, the annual Firecracker Ball has hit a milestone: the event has now raised over £2.5m!
Newcastle Clinic, which has supported the ball for over a decade now, attended the ball alongside some business partners, and enjoyed helping raise funds through the auctions and gift options being sold at the ball. We also featured in the Firecracker Ball’s magazine handed out at the event.
Phil Taylor, Executive Chairman and Director of Newcastle Clinic, is the Vice President of Barnardo’s and Chair of the Firecracker Ball. He spoke at the ball and introduced a Barnardo’s volunteer and young man who has benefitted from the charity’s work.
The speeches highlighted the charity’s work, and there were few dry eyes around the ballroom of the Rudding Park Hotel afterwards!
This year’s ball raised over £270,000 in total.
Following the event, Phil said: “Every year we begin the planning and think how on earth can we even come close to what we did last year? And every year I wake up the day after and count myself lucky to have such an amazing committee working so very hard to pull it all together and, of course, the astonishing generosity of the people of Yorkshire who come every year and dig so very, very deep for such a wonderful charity.”
Barnardo’s is a local Yorkshire charity which supports around 140,000 young people, children and families each year. They provide fostering and adoption services, counselling for children who have been abused, and disability support for children, young people and families.
